Karen Childs graduated with distinction from the University of Western Ontario in 2006 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology (the study of motion). While pursuing her degree in Kinesiology she became involved with a field placement in Pedorthics, and fell in love with the profession. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she enrolled in the Diploma Program in Pedorthics at the University of Western Ontario. Karen’s first practicum placement was with Pedorthic Services, and she developed a deep respect for the way the company and its associates run their practices, and what they stand for as a group. After graduating the program and achieving certification in 2007 she was thrilled to accept a position as an associate of Pedorthic Services in Sarnia, Ontario.
Karen’s clinic has been open since January of 2008, and she has enjoyed combining her knowledge of Pedorthics with her background in Kinesiology to provide her patients with a comprehensive treatment plan. Karen is a member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association, the Pedorthic Association of Canada and the College of Pedorthics of Canada.
Karen enjoys the outdoors, and living in the Sarnia-Lambton area is passionate about the water! In the summer, she spends her free time boating, swimming, and going on canoe camping trips up North. She has been an avid runner since she began running cross-country in high school, and has since completed one half marathon, with hopes to train for another. In the winter she prefers to stay indoors or bundle up and go cross-country skiing – if there’s enough snow down here in Sarnia! |
