I am originally from Thunder Bay where I received my Honours Kinesiology degree from Lakehead University. Following that I received my Masters of Science from Guelph University.
I first started in Pedorthics in 2002 at Waterloo Sports Medicine Centre and then worked in Stratford with Physiotherapy Alliance. I enjoy working in smaller communities and have been in Stratford for the past 8 years. I also have a practice in Woodstock in the McKinney Building on the northend of town. I am excited to also have the opportunity to see patients out of Studio Energi and be a part of the Studio Energi team. As a long distance runner, ultimate Frisbee player, snowboarder and cross-country skier, I have been training at Studio
Energi for the past 4 years.
I have been involved with the College of Pedorthics through proctoring exams and acting in a supervisory role to a student from the Diploma of Pedorthics program. I have also written articles for the Pedorthic Association of Canada newsletter to keep members informed of Health &
Safety issues.
In the Spring of 2004 I was fortunate to travel to Nicaragua where I distributed gently worn shoes to those less fortunate. I continue to collect footwear to donate to local organizations. I also volunteer with the organizing committee for the Festival City 10k in Stratford. In the past I have volunteered my time with the House of Blessing in Stratford.
The principles in my practice are customer service, education and communication. There are many individuals who may provide custom foot orthotics, however, Pedorthic Services puts the needs of the patient first and maintains a high level of care. At Pedorthic Services we are one of the few healthcare professionals trained and educated in the assessment, fabrication, modification and fit custom foot orthotics and footwear. With a referral from your family physician I can provide custom foot orthotics and footwear education to help alleviate lower limb conditions. Follow up appointments help to ensure that the orthotics are comfortable and helping, and that any new footwear fits appropriately. Pedorthic reports are sent to all referring professionals to maintain communication between myself and the health care providers of my patients. Providing footwear education on features and fit is vital to my practice. I work with local shoe stores to ensure that my patients have a variety of appropriate footwear to choose from. |
